Today, Sunday, was a blustry day, with rain predicted and winds 15+ out of the North East.
However, most of the trip would be in the ICW (Virginia Cut). Other than a stretch through Currituck Sound, we would be in protected waters the entire time.

The picture below shows what Currituck Sound was like.

It was wet, windy and cold in the 50s F. I learned that the flybridge was pretty dry, except for just a few spots…most notably where the solar panels attach to the canvas.
Finally, when we reached Norfolk harbor I realized that just the fetch of the harbor is enough space to turn up a nasty, short chop. Eventually we made it to Hampton and turned up the head in the cabin!
There are always many ships in Norfolk harbor.
