Today was planned to be a long day. We were to leave from near Belhaven, run up the Pungo river, across to the Alligator river, across Albemarle sound and continue on to Coinjock.

Imagine my surprise, when I awoke at 5:30 to find fog! As we were walking about trying to determine visibility, I heard two other boats start their engines. This provided some comfort as did the recommendation from my captain that North Carolina fog was never really thick. And so off we went!

By the time we reached the Alligator river bridge, the fog had lifted to reveal a beautiful day with calm winds. We had a delightful crossing of the Albemarle! We reached Coinjock later that day and enjoyed a delicious roast beef.
